House Cleaning with Homemade Products

I want to get my house in order before Hadley gets here in May or June. I know, to some, that seems like I have plenty of time. But, to be honest, where did all the time go??? I can't believe I'm over half way! Time is flying! And I am starting to feel like if I don't do it now, it may not get done!

I also really want a healthy home and family. I'm not going to go completely organic but where I can make changes, I plan too. That includes the topic today:

House Cleaning
(say it with me...yuck!)

Okay, so I googled homemade cleaning products and found a blog that I'm pretty familiar with and it had a great list of how to make cleaning products, where to use them and how, but also a handy-dandy shopping list!

So, I made myself a cleaning list to help me get organized and will use these cleaning products to get my house in baby-ready shape.

 Mondays:
1st one - Vacuum/Dust Light fixtures.
2nd one - Clean couches and chairs.
3rd one - Wipe down baseboards.
4th one - Clean air vents.

Tuesdays:
1st - Sweep and mop.
2nd - Clean out fridge.
3rd - Sweep and mop.
4th - Clean outside of kitchen cabinets.

Thursdays:
1st - Wash towels and clean toilets.
2nd - Clean inside kitchen cabinets.
3rd - Wash towels and clean toilets.
4th - Clean pantry.

Saturdays:
1st - Wash bedding.
2nd - Laundry.
3rd - Wash bedding.
4th - Laundry.

I know these lists aren't for everyone. And for some, this is not nearly as extensive or as often as some of these things need to get done. But, keep in mind, two adults live in our house and we both pick up and clean up after ourselves and each other. So none of these areas are ever neglected or left dirty. This is just to tidy it up a bit more.

Eating Crow

That sounds disgusting! But, it probably tastes like chicken.

That was gross...sorry. Moving on...

I posted that I would not have a pink girl nursery because it was too trendy. But, I felt at war with myself because it is my favorite color.

Plus, I can't find the Lady of the Manor wallpaper anywhere and did not receive an email response from Yukari Sweeney, the company that made it for Anthropologie. So, I had to change directions. And, luckily, I love this one so much more than the last!!!

First thing, let me just tell you...I LOVE iron cribs! But, my husband wanted to make the crib for our baby. So, I picked out the Marcelle Crib from Restoration Hardware as a guide for him. Now, that's not going to happen. There are so many safety regulations and to be honest, it would cost a lot to build also. So, we went back to the iron crib idea and I am so excited!!!

So, let's tick off the hints I've given so far:

Pink...check.
Not the lovely, awesome, beautiful Lady of the Manor wallpaper...check.
Iron crib...check.

Here's the new idea/plan: (subject to change...obviously!)

My photo-shopping skills are subpar! However, you get the picture. (punny) #lame

Anywho...I have loved this wallpaper for a while and SURPRISE!!!!! it's still available and being sold!
I already have the olive green lamp, I like the addition of color here. It's like a little statement. Mine isn't the same shape as this, but the color is the same. The pink bedding will go on a daybed that my husband made to go in the nursery. I googled whitewashed sideboard just to find something to go here. I have an antique sideboard that I'm going to give a makeover too and use as a changing table.

I really like the direction this nursery is going. I like the pops of pink without having pepto-overload!

Now, let's hope I can get this approved through the Hubs! He hasn't seen this yet!

Wish me luck!

Hadley Addison

We found out yesterday...

Our bundle of joy is a girl!!!!!!!!!!

It's so exciting to finally be able to not say 'it' and actually use a name!

I had posted our nursery design board a while back (every post has been a while back) but since yesterday afternoon I have had hundreds of ideas going through my mind. I've got 4 months to get it narrowed down and figured out!

I do know it will not be pink! I love pink, it's actually my favorite color...however, I am not a traditional person and I like to be true to self...not trendy.

This blog may turn into my family journal/blog.

I guess that would beat a silent decor blog! ha
